Mrs Helen Tait C.B.E., Chair of Governors

I have been blessed with a career in education that I have loved; forty-one years as a teacher with twenty-nine of those as a Head teacher. I retired in August 2018.

In 2007 I was appointed as a National Leader in Education alongside my role as Head teacher, working with the National College of School Leadership and developing school leaders within Kent. An important aspect of the N.L.E. role was being deployed to support schools seeking to improve.

I served as an OfSTED inspector while a Head teacher, knowing that this valuable insight both into national policy and into the practice across a diversity of schools, served both my leadership and the schools I led.

Working with colleagues, I was the Director of one of the first Teaching Schools, particularly focusing on Professional Development programmes for staff across South Kent, and School-To-School support.

In 2010 I was honoured to receive a C.B.E. for Services to Education in Kent.

I was delighted to be invited to serve this school and community as an Associate Governor. Having visited several times since September and attended events such as the Christmas Fair and the Nativity Play, I have appreciated the strong sense of community and the dedication of Mrs. Uden, Governors and staff in offering children fulfilling and enjoyable learning and social opportunities. I recognise the commitment to ongoing improvement and their ambition to be the best they can be, and aim to offer the insight, analysis and support that help. My particular focus as a Governor will be working with Mrs. Uden to track the impact of actions to raise standards and secure good progress for your children.
