Friday 7th July 2017 - Year 2 homework
Next week we will be writing our own version of a Flat Stanley story and you are going to be including a set of words within your story writing! For your homework you need to write each of the words into an extended sentence (make sure you use correct sentence punctuation) so you understand the meaning of each word and you also need to learn how to correctly spell these words!

We have spent two lessons this week looking at time to the nearest five minutes (this was a very tricky task for some of us!) For your homework I would like you to carry on identifying different clock times.

This week we have completed some sorting based activities using a venn diagram, the homework task is to cut out the different sweets and sort them correctly on a venn diagram!

This week we have spent a lesson looking at using commas instead of the word 'and' when writing a list.
Your task is to write some shopping list sentences which include commas, look carefully at the pictures as these are the things that your person will need to buy from the shops.

We have started to work on solving 2 step word problems this week and will be continuing this next week as it is a very tricky task.
Your homework task is to solve the two step word problems that are in your learning journal. Remember to show your workings out!
There are 20 red sweets, 5 pink sweets and 10 yellow sweets in one packet of sweets. How many sweets are there in two packets?
Step 1: 20+5+10=35
Step 2: 35+35=70 or 35x2=70

Please learn the list of words that are written in your Learning Journal. These are the common exception words for year 2 that you need to work on spelling correctly.

This week we have spent a lesson looking at compound words.
You will find a list of compound words that have been missed up in your learning journal, the task is to sort them so they are correct and then use the compound words to write some sentences.

No homework is being set for over the Easter break. I hope every Hedgehog enjoys having some time off as when we get back to school we will start preparing for our SAT's tests!

Your homework task this week is to retell the story of the Gruffalo in your own words.
Use lots of adjectives and try to add as much detail as possible. Remember to use a wide range of punctuation and describe the characters and the story setting. Take care with your spelling and use the word mats to help you with this task.
I am really looking forward to reading the finished stories!

Carry on completing your nocturnal animal research, you have another 10 animals to find facts about.
leopard, kangaroo, porcupine, racoon, potoo, flying squirrel, aardvark, click beetle, tarantula and a frogmouth.
Friday 3rd March 2017 - Year 2 homework
The homework challenge for this week is to research and write down at least one interesting fact for each of the 10 nocturnal animals you have been given. It is important that facts are written down in your own words and not just copied! These extra facts will be really useful for when you are writing up the pages for our nocturnal information text.
