This week, you are to:

Prepare detailed sketches / small coloured / painted sections of your chosen view of Stowting.  These are to be completed in your Art Books & used to assist your final piece, which will be worked on for our Art Exhibition.

I will accept artwork in any medium.  The pictures to assist you are in the everyday page of the class webpage.

Homework - week beginning 17.04.2017 - Return by Tuesday 2nd May - no fail!

This week, you are to:

Choose 15 spellings, FROM THE YEAR 5/6 SPELLING LIST, which you have incorrectly attempted from your test.

You should study the words from the test, work out what you did wrong & create a complex sentence which uses the word in context - this will aid you to successfully attempt the word / spelling again in the future. I require a definition of the word in addition to this.

You will be tested on these words, at any time of the day or night, at any location...

Homework 20.03.2017: (due back - 18.04.2017)

Information Texts.

This week, I would like you to use the skills on instructions, formal language from Literacy & explanation texts which we have examined in Topic.  You are to:

Create an information text for Easter - either : from a Christian or Pagan perspective... (The Pagan will be from pre Christian history).   -   You should write two detailed pages describing it - if you are successful, when studied, the reader should be able to obtain all the necessary information about the subject.  Use all the skills you have been employing over the past two weeks in school. You must use truth = fact; non-fiction text; headings/sub-headings; technical vocabulary; formal language ; diagrams/pictures; caption/labels ; text box/paragraphs; contents/index & a glossary

What I DO require:

  • an information text which has been crafted with pride & reflects your passion which you have for the object.
  • writing which draws in the reader & supplies all the required information.
  • you to think out of the box & put in an amount of effort which you would do in class.
  • feel confident enough to try new language - even if you cannot spell it all correctly at this point in year 6, I don't mind.   Remember, for every success there are many failures...
  • for you to have fun and enjoy your task.

What I DO NOT require:

  • A list!!!
  • messy, sloppy & last minute work.
  • illegible handwriting which looks like the secret code of spiders.
  • writing which actually makes me fall asleep (I do mark work late at night sometimes) or without passion, interest, individuality or care...

Lastly... If you are not having fun, or are not totally absorbed by what you are attempting, stop, think and try another approach.  If learning isn't fun, it isn't worth doing. Good Luck.

Homework 10/03/2017: (due back on 20/03/2017)

Mathematics.

This week, I would like you to use the skills on timed mathematics questions which we have examined this week.  You are to:

Choose 5 questions from your reasoning test, which you may have got incorrect / need more work on   -  You should study the question from the test, work out what you did wrong & create a guide (showing working) on how to successfully attempt the question in the future.

You must  employ (to explain to the uninitiated) workings and jottings to support your answer.

Homework for week beginning: 20/02/2017: due back on 06/03/2017.

This week, I would like you to use the skills you learn on Friday in our dictation lessons.

You are to:

Choose 10 spellings, FROM THE YEAR 5/6 NATIONAL CURRICULUM SPELLING LIST.  (You can find the entire lists on our 'sneaky cheats' page next to this one)

You should study the words from the list, chose ten and write a complex sentence which uses each word in context - this will aid you to successfully attempt the word / spelling again in the future.

I require a definition of the word in addition to this.
