# Year 1 Homework

**REMINDER - Can I remind all parents that homework is due in by Wednesday. This is in order to give me time to mark it and stick in the next piece of work. **

**Maths Homework - 24.2.17**

This week we have been learning what each digit means in a two digit number.

Can you choose any number between 10 and 99 and break it down into tens and ones, then repeat for other numbers.

25 = 20 + 5 45 = 40 + 5 67 = 60 + 7

**Maths Homework 10.2.17**

For homework this week we are looking at the spellings of some of the common exception words for year one. Can you copy the words and then choose some of them to put into sentences.

**Maths Homework - 3.2.17**

In class this week we have been looking at how to tell the time at o'clock and half past the hour. For homework this week I would like you to draw the hands on a clock face to show half past the hour.

Remember that the little hand will not be pointing at a number!

For homework this week we are looking at the spellings of some of the common exception words for year one. Can you copy the words and then choose two or more of them to put into sentences.

**Maths Homework - 20.1.17**

This week we have been looking at different coins and their values. We have swapped 1p coins for a coin of the same value. We have added three coins together to find the total. We have also tried to find different ways of making a total.

For homework this week could you find all the ways of making 6p and then 7p (red and yellow groups) or 7p and 8p (purple group) using 1p, 2p and 5p coins.

You can either draw around coins or just write the number. Don’t forget to add a p after the total.

**Maths Homework - 13.1.17**

This week we have been learning about number bonds. These are numbers that can be added together to make a total. We have looked at number bonds to 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. For homework could you write all the number bonds to 8, 9, 10 (red and yellow groups) and 10, 11, 12 (purple group).

We played a game on the Smartboard and computer to help us. Click on the link at home to play.

**Maths Homework - 6.1.17**

This week we have been counting on and back in ones and tens.

In your home journal there are sequences, either counting in ones or tens. Sometimes the sequences count forwards but sometimes they go backwards. Can you fill in the missing numbers.

**Homework - 2.12.16**

Please continue to work on your lines for our production of Out Of This World.

Most of you have now learnt your lines off by heart so the next step is to work on voice projection (making sure you speak loudly and clearly!) When working on your lines ask an adult to read the line that come before yours so that you get used to knowing when to come in and speak!

**Homework - 25.11.16**

**Speaking and listening task: Instead of completing a maths based activity in the learning journals this week we would like the children to spend time learning their lines off by heart and then practise delivering them for the Christmas play.**

This week we have been looking at how to read, write and order the months of the year. For homework I would like for you to write the order of the months and then anything in particular that happens in that month next to it.

**This week we have been learning about the properties of a 2D shape. We have been naming a variety of shapes and looking at how many sides and corners each shape has. For homework this week can you name each shape in the journal and say how many sides and corners each shape has.**

**This week we have been doubling and halving numbers to ten and beyond. There is a sheet stuck in their home journal.**

**Maths homework - 21.10.16**

This week we have been looking at what half and quarter of a shape mean. We folded pieces of paper to find half and quarter and also coloured in a fraction of a shape. In your child's home journal this week is a sheet with shapes on it and how much of that shape I would like them to colour in.

**Maths Homework - 14.10.16**

This week we have been looking at subtraction sums and how we can work out the answers.

At the beginning of the week we drew people on a bus and then crossed out how many were getting off to find the answer.

Later on in the week we used cubes, counting them out then taking some away to find the answers.

We also used our fingers for smaller sums.

There is a sheet in every child's book for them to complete by Wednesday please.

__Maths Homework – 2.10.15__

This week we have been talking about what the word symmetrical means. We painted butterflies, made patterns on peg boards, played a game on the computer and coloured in pictures.

For homework can you draw, list or photograph some symmetrical items from around your house.

__Maths Homework - 30.9.16__

For the first three days of the week we were looking at coins in Maths. We learnt about 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p and 20p and how we could identify them. We also added two coins together to find a total. After this we looked at different ways of making an amount using the coins we had been learning about.

For homework this week can you find as many ways as you can to make 10p using the coins we have been learning about.

__Maths Homework – 23.9.16__

This week we have been adding two numbers together by counting on from a number. We talked about keeping a number in our head and using our fingers to add a number to that one. This is so that we do not have to start from the number one every time we add a number.

Could you write as many addition sums as you can find using numbers 1-5 and work out the answers by counting on from one number.
