Winners at Project Salus for the third year running - Fab. Not only 1st place, but 2nd place as well. If that was not enough, the highest score ever recorded at Project Salus - 99 points out of 100. totally amazing. Here's a small taster of the day.

Well done today, you did the school proud & made our guests very welcome. Enjoy the pics...

Look at this person's improvement - Both samples are taken from a Big Write - the first sample is from October 2016 & the second is from December 2016 - an incredible increase in quality in a very short time.

Handwriting is all important in both school & the wider world.  Within the new curriculum of 2014, handwriting is even given a higher weighting in the SATs than previous years.  Please find below a guide to the accepted lower case formation which the school has put in place since 2016.  The sequence of learning the letters is set out on the right hand side & ties in with the style of formation.

The circle of life...

Don't forget - Wednesday is shoe cleaning lessons at lunchtime. Bring with you the following: a stiff shoe brush; a good quality microfiber cloth; a packet of wet-wipes (any neutral baby, or make up type will do fine) ; finally, a good quality Polish - look for the title 'renovating polish' - this contains dye & takes out mild scratches etc.

This term we have been looking at the art of instructions in Literacy. One group decided to create a set to accompany the straightening of hair... Nira volunteered (very brave!) and I must say her new shortened Bob style haircut really suits her.

A small selection of the written work to accompany the experiment pictured below. I think we have some budding scientists in the class...

Peppa Pig rides again! Here's the alternative experiment to show that variable surface area has a direct effect on the motion of a vehicle and very successful it was too.

Picture 1

At Stowting School we pride ourselves on the links we foster between year groups. In 5/6 we were very fortunate to 'borrow' Logan from year one, to provide the necessary ballast in our surface area vs speed of descent experiment. Kitted out with suitable safety equipment, Logan proved very suitable & was very resilient. It’s just a shame we didn't perform the experiment on April 1st....!

Guess what?! Two new subjects starting this term - Instructions in Literacy & Division in Mathematics - Be very afraid...

Year 6 have been enjoying an intense reading session...

In Terms 5 & 6 you will be studying The Battle of Britain. 211 years ago this Friday, on October 21st 1805, was the first Battle of Britain, but this time fought at sea. The people of Britain were so happy to have been saved by The Royal Navy, but so devastated to hear of the loss of Admiral, the Lord Nelson in the battle, that they collected enough money to build Trafalgar Square & Nelson's Column at it's centre as a memorial. His ship, H.M.S. Victory, is preserved at Portsmouth & is still the flagship of the Royal Navy today. On Friday night, a special dinner will be served on board her, as it has done so on every 21st of October since 1805.

If you fail to behave in class, you are subjected to ritual humiliation... Here, poor Jack has been forced to wear large feathers so he is chased by the territorial Pheasants which inhabit the school grounds... Similarly, for getting a science question wrong, Tom was blindfolded and made to stand holding a very heavy apple for 48 hours in class. (Only kidding... One image is from a topic lesson & the other from a science lesson, but what do these pictures actually represent?! Can you remember?)
